Queensland University of Technology (QUT) has a global outlook and a real-world focus. Located on the eastern coast of Australia, QUT offers a host of opportunities for academic exploration that is fine-tuned to current industry needs. QUT’s internationally award-winning Science and Engineering Centre is home to "The Cube", which is acknowledged as one of the world’s largest digital interactive learning and display spaces. QUT prides itself on innovation and sustainability, both in and out of the classroom. Students have the opportunity to take courses on either of two campuses. The Garden's Point Campus hosts business, science and engineering students, right in the center of Brisbane. The Kelvin Grove Campus is the main campus of creative industries, education and health studies and is located in the thriving Kelvin Grove Village.

QUT is located on the eastern coast of Australia in Brisbane, the capital of the Queensland region. Brisbane is Australia’s third largest city and sits along the Brisbane River. Located nearby is the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, where students can cuddle a koala and view other Australian animals like kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, dingoes, snakes, and crocodiles. With over 250 days of sunshine each year, students can explore the City Botanic Gardens, climb up the Story Bridge, overlook the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, or catch the CityCat back along the river!
QUT is well-known for its innovative and sustainable resources and facilities. Students have easy access to dining rooms, supermarkets, shops, post office, bank and medical center. QUT provides learning support, social activities, and development opportunities to ensure your time in Australia is the best it can be. Students accepted into the UNC Wilmington education abroad program with QUT will receive credit toward their degree requirements for most majors. QUT is a world leader in the area of business studies, the sciences and creative industries. Areas of study available include, but are not limited to, accounting, art, biology, business, communication studies, computer science, economics, English, environmental science, film, finance, journalism, marketing, mathematics, psychology, public health, social work, sociology and theater. This program is AACSB accredited and approved by the Cameron School of Business for business students.
At QUT, classes are called units and majors are called courses. A typical course load is three or four units per semester. This is equivalent to 12-15 UNCW credit hours. Please make an appointment with the education abroad advisor for Australia to discuss QUT's unit offerings and credit transfer process.
UNCW students may choose from a variety of accommodations in student residential complexes close to the university campuses. All accommodations are self-catered, meaning no meal plans are available. The QUT accommodation services can assist in finding the the best option for your stay in Australia.
Accommodation is priced weekly and costs are stated in Australian dollars (AU$).
As with all Australian schools, QUT follows the southern hemisphere calendar.

This program is available as an Exchange or as a Study Abroad:
- Exchange - This means you pay your regular tuition and fees to UNCW, and your room and board costs abroad.
- Study Abroad - This means you pay your tuition, fees, room and board abroad.
With each option, there will be additional costs for international airfare, passport, visa, health insurance, and local transportation. Please meet with the education abroad advisor for Australia to discuss your program budget and to determine which option is best for you.
Financial Aid and Scholarships
Federal and state financial aid may be applied towards this program. Even if you are normally ineligible for financial aid, you should submit a financial aid application (FAFSA). You may find that you are eligible for additional funding.
