Program Description

The University
Since its foundation in 1928, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) has established itself as one of the most prestigious institutions of the Chilean higher educational system. Its excellent academic and professional education, coastal location and strong commitment to public service make it an ideal location to spend a semester or academic year.

The Surrounding Area
Valparaíso lies halfway up Chile’s extensive coastline approximately 70 miles from the inland capital city of Santiago and is an active port city with a rich coastal heritage and breathtaking hillside views. The city serves as Chile’s Fifth Region capital, primary commercial harbor and Navy headquarters. Valparaíso is a short bus ride or a nice walk from the resort town of Viña del Mar. Valparaíso is also close in proximity to several ski resorts and Mendoza, the closest Argentine city.
