The Surrounding Area
Located on the gorgeous seaside of Southern France, Marseille boasts over 2,600 years of history and has the cultural vivacity to show for it. The city has been immortalized in classic tales like The Count of Monte Cristo, and the Chateau d’If prison can still be visited today. Not just a relic of history and literature, Marseille holds the title of second largest city in Europe and one of the most desirable destinations of the visually sumptuous French Riviera. Unlike the flashier, luxurious city of Nice on the opposite end of the Riviera, Marseille presents the exhilarating side of multiculturalism and diversity and some of the best restaurants in France, as the capital of Provence should. Students enjoy the Marseille nightlife and lively weekends in their host city, just as much as travelling easily to other parts of Europe.
