Welcome to Valencia, the third largest city in Spain and among the liveliest. It is located on the Mediterranean Sea and offers ample cultural opportunities with the newly created cultural arts center in the city’s old riverbed. Valencia has a beautiful old quarter, some futuristic looking new buildings and a fantastic beach! This city is famous for its “Fallas” festival in March, its Cathedral, beautiful weather and its night life.
Courses will be offered at the Universitat de València (UV) in the heart of Valencia. This 500-year old institution is attended by over 60,000 students from around the world each year. Classes will be taken there Monday through Thursday mornings, leaving ample time for cultural excursions on weekends and daily beach trips. The Spanish course is a UV course, and will be transferred back to UNCW as appropriate credit depending on students’ needs. Valencia is home to the most recent America’s Cup sailing event and in 2008 added a Formula One racing track throughout the city.
