Jönköping University offers a summer school at the undergraduate level in Purchasing Logistics with a Global Perspective. Students will have the opportunity to obtain credits and participate in social and cultural activities to discover and learn about Sweden and the Swedish culture. In addition, students will participate in company visits to some of the internationally well-known Swedish companies such as IKEA, Husqvarna and/or Kinnarps. They will benefit from a term abroad during their summer break with the possibility to gain valuable international experience.
The Surrounding Area
Jönköping is located near the core of a triangle linking the country’s three largest cities: Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö. The city’s convenient transportation options link travelers to nearby European hotspots like Oslo, Copenhagen and the Baltic States. More locally, Swedish landscape offers day trippers the opportunity to explore mountains, forests, countless lakes, wide-open countryside, and a coastline that stretches for thousands of kilometres.
You will be able to discover Sweden and the region of Småland as part of the social and cultural events included in the program. You will visit Vadstena Castle, one of Sweden’s best preserved castles from the Gustav Vasa period in the 16th century. You will also visit Gränna which is a small town outside of Jönköping where the popular peppermint candy canes are handmade, and the ruin Brahehus Castle. The programme will also include a welcome lunch, two evening activities, and other social activities.

- 2.50+ GPA at time of application
- Prerequisite: one year of undergraduate level studies in Engineering and/or Management
- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of participation
Students accepted into the Jönköping University summer school will have the opportunity to earn 10 ECTS credits which will transfer back as 6 credits at UNCW. The aim of this course is to give advanced knowledge of logistics in purchasing and supply chain management with a global perspective.
The off-campus accommodation is located in the outskirts of the city. Accommodation will be provided with access to a bathroom andkitchen. Public transportation is easily accessible from the accommodation area.

- Study Abroad - Participants pay an inclusive program fee to the host institution that includes: pick-up service, accommodation, company visits, welcome lunch, farewell dinner, access to the library services, Wi-Fi on campus, 24 hours/day access to the facilities, and social and cultural activities
There will be additional costs for international airfare, passport, visa, health insurance, and local transportation. Please meet with an advisor at the Office of International Programs to discuss which option is best for you.
Financial Aid and Scholarships
Federal and state financial aid may be applied towards this program. Even if you are normally ineligible for financial aid, you should submit a financial aid application (FAFSA). You may find that you are eligible for additional funding.
