Program Description

The University
Founded in 1995, the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) is an institution in the process of becoming a bilingual institution with a focus on innovative education and entrepreneurship. With 34 undergraduate majors to choose from, across three campus locations in Lima and one in Cusco, students studying abroad at USIL will find a variety of coursework.

The Surrounding Area
Peru is an ideal destination for improving Spanish language skills and experiencing the vibrant culture of Latin America. The city of Lima was the center of Spanish colonial rule and is well known for its rich pre-Columbian history. A UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site, Lima is also Latin America’s culinary capital- with delicious local dishes for students to explore. With an international airport nearby, and a great bus network, students can easily explore the rest of the country and region. A short flight inland from Lima, Cusco is nestled into the Andean Mountains and was the former capital of the Inca Empire. With Machu Picchu (one of the New Seven Wonders) nearby, students will find plenty of opportunities to explore Peru’s rich culture and historical legacy through a variety of archaeological sites like Sacsayhuaman.
