Pre-Clinical Health Internship

Program Description

The University
Founded in 1920, Swansea University is a vibrant, research-led university at the forefront of academic and scientific discovery. Set in park land overlooking Swansea Bay, on the edge of the breathtaking Gower Peninsula, the university’s location is part of the institution’s appeal. Placed among the top universities in the U.K. for teaching quality and student satisfaction, Swansea aims to deliver an outstanding student experience along with a superior education.

This Internship and study program at Swansea University is designed to support UNCW Pre-Clinical Health Studies students to prepare for the continuation of their education in a clinical specialty of their choosing having observed and participated in practical experiences that will help them bridge public health concepts with clinical practice in the United Kingdom. The internship students will observe clinicians at work and learn about the organisation, administration, functioning and funding of the practice in which the clinician is employed.
The Surrounding Area
The surrounding countryside is some of the most beautiful in Britain. Swansea is only 35 miles from Cardiff, the capital of Wales, and has direct road and rail links to London and all the major cities in the U.K. The wonderful and varied landscape of the Gower Peninsula is close by and was the first place in Britain to be designated as an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.” Spectacular cliffs, lovely beaches and walks are only a few of the peninsula’s many features. There are opportunities for surfing, swimming, walking, boating, fishing, and other maritime pursuits.
